EJSU, whilst maintain a critical footprint in the headquarters, has now moved to a remote working posture. Should personnel require to speak with any of the departments Skype or E-mail should be used in the first instance. This posture will not affect the HQs ability to maintain normal daily output and your continued support and expeditionary approach to this ongoing pandemic is gratefully appreciated.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that the EU needs to establish common rules on quarantines and Covid-19 testing to end a confusing patchwork of rules across the bloc. The German Foreign Ministry
The German foreign ministry has warned against non-essential travel to France, Netherlands, Malta and Slovakia from Saturday, 17 Oct 20, due to high Covid-19 infection rates.
Portugal will limit, from Thursday, gatherings to five people except weddings and baptisms which can be attended by 50 people. A proposal to the government will be made to make masks mandatory in crowded public places.  Germany is limiting public gatherings in hotspot areas to ten people and gatherings in private spaces to two households. In non-hotspot areas gatherings are limited to 25 people. Pubs and restaurants will close by 23:00 in hotspot areas. In …
France will introduce rapid tests at airports this month according to the transport minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari. The tests will initially be used for passengers travelling to certain destinations including the US and Italy, plus arrivals from high risk locations.
France as of 15 Oct 10, is implementing new restrictions. Residents in nine cities, including Paris, will be subject to a curfew between 21:00 and 06:00 for four weeks from midnight Saturday. A national state of health emergency was also declared. President Macron stated there should be no more than six people around the table for family gatherings, with exceptions for people with more than six people in their immediate family.

World Health Organisation (WHO) are reporting 40,472,505 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 202,062 deaths across the European Region.

Social Distancing Guidance
Guidance on social distancing and isolation for clinically vulnerable is changing by country and according to local risk profiles. The PHE advice is broadly applicable in Europe but local and governmental advice must be considered alongside this. 
Influenza Immunisation
The influenza immunisation eligibility criteria will expand this year to include a wider group. Current eligible groups – and the priority- includes those over 65; pregnant; with certain medical conditions; those on a carers allowance; frontline health workers and children aged 2, 3 on 31 Aug or at primary school. Additional groups will include those aged 50-64; household contacts of people who are shielding; the shielded patient list and children in year 7. Those who are mandated to have an immunisation for Defence reasons will be incorporated.

Coronavirus Apps.  Many countries across Europe are releasing similar apps and at this time the most apps are voluntary, they will use your Bluetooth, IP address and GPS to alert possible contact with positive COVID cases. Personnel are reminded NOT to install the app on any MOD phones/devices and only install on personnel devices. Any security concerns should be addressed to SNCO J2 (EJSU-J2-SNCO)

France reported 32,427 new cases on Saturday, 17 Oct 20, surpassing the previous record.  Italy has reported 10,925 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, a new record rise in cases.  Poland reported 9,622 new daily cases, a new record.  Greece reported 508 new cases on Friday, surpassing the 500 figure for the first time. 227 of these cases were in the Athens metropolitan area.  Netherlands has reported its worst day for new daily …

LEC Belgium WFH
LECs in Belgium have returned to WFH unless unable to do so, in line with host nation direction. It is anticipated that further host nations may revert to mandated WFH arrangements in the coming weeks, and advice and guidance on LEC employment continues to be available from the respective Civilian Personnel Offices.

DIO Office Staff WFH
DIO office staff have now taken a working from home stance across all areas. If staff are needed to be in the office, they will require approval from their line manager. Routine and statutory maintenance will continue, and appointments will be booked for these as required.
