What is MY LAPTOP Project?

Defence Digital are delivering a modernisation project this year to move us to a primarily laptop based estate. You’ll be issued with a personal laptop which will follow you throughout your MOD career even if you change TLBs. This project is called My MOD Laptop.

What does this mean?

If you currently have a laptop, this will be replaced or updated to Windows 10

If you are an occasional user and don’t need a laptop, you’ll have access to a kiosk solution, which will allow you to use apps such as JPA and HRMS – This will be located within your NSE.

What is an occasional user?

An occasional user is someone that does not log on or access MODNET systems often (less than once a week). This can be very difficult in the overseas space which EJSU is relaying to the UK Project team. EJSU is advising that all users that believe they should be part of the MY LAPTOP project need to ensure their MODNET accounts are active and frequently used.

We understand that in some cases across our supported population this ability to log in will be very difficult. EJSU is hoping to acquire enough laptops for everyone and that this much needed equipment will enable overseas personnel to greatly improve a better COMMS culture with each other and the UK.

The Plan

The current roll out plan for Europe and Turkey is between June 2021 and September 2021. The plan is still in the primary stages and these dates could change. Frequent contact is being made with the UK project team and any updates will be posted on this page and relayed to Heads of Location as soon they are received.
