Optimising Performance Through Stress Management & Resilience Training (OPSMART) – Delivering bespoke Mental Resilience Training to Service Personnel and their Spouses. EJSU is offering two discreet products as part of OPSMART at this time:
Mental Resilience Training (MRT) – All Ranks
Delivery Method: Zoom only
Product: Mental Resilience Training Workshop.
Duration: 3 Hours
Content: The aim of this workshop is to:
· Improve unit/individual’s use of mental resilience skills and knowledge
· Understand and recognise the causes to poor performance
· Encourage peer support in coaching and mentoring
· Teach psychological skills to improve and maintain mental fitness
Numbers: Min 50 – Max 500 personnel – mix across all ranks
Conversation and Listening Life Skills (CALLS)
Conversation and Listening Life Skills Training is delivered via zoom at this time. An email will be sent in advance for personnel to register for the workshop; once registered the link to training will be sent out with the Zoom password and meeting ID attached. Zoom can be viewed on any tablet, smartphone or laptop using a personal civilian email address.
4C – Conversations and Listening Life Skills – 2 x 4 ½ hr online Course
For Commanders and Adjutants
· Max number 6 (need to be in groups of 3)
· Aimed at those in the CoC involved in the day to day management of personnel such as Subunit OCs, Subunit 2ics, CSM/SSMs, SNCOs, Unit Welfare Staff
· It gives individuals the more advanced skills needed to engage with someone in emotional distress.
· Topics covered:
o Identifying and gauging emotional distress and health
o How the brain processes/deals with distress & emotions
o How to support an individual in extreme emotional distress
o How to use different communication styles to facilitate a conversation and provide the right support
o Advanced Active Listening Skills
o How to engage with, support and signpost
o How to manage a conversation
o Information to ensure that the listener has a positive affect
· Skills Practice using specific role play scenarios
· Course is assessed and for those who successfully meet the ASTRAT a JPA Competency is awarded.
